Turn down the treble. Drop the bass.

Silver Martian Music, available to the public for the first time.

Covers of the 16 music albums from which the playlist's 17 tracks are taken.

It's Friday, and Fridays should be fun, so here is something I hope some of you will enjoy, or maybe even all of you.

In celebration of my birthday in 2023, I put together this playlist, which I titled Silver Martian Music for reasons that should not be obvious. (It can be a cryptic business, giving these things titles.) I've been listening to it for over a year now, and goddamn, it is what musicologists call "100 percent bangers." Consequently, in light of how dark the world has felt for some of us this last week-plus, I am making it available today for the first time.

You can find it on Spotify:

And on Amazon Music:

I don't want to set your expectations too high, but listening to this collection of songs will probably change your life forever, and you might even see the face of God. The Having a Normal One legal department wants me to warn you not to listen to it if you're pregnant, but if you want my opinion? I think the danger of listening to it and getting pregnant is just as real. (I have no comment on rumors that legendary music producer Quincy Jones was listening to this mix at the time of his death, at age 91, earlier this month, or that he smiled while it played, shook his head, and said to me, "Where were you when we were recording Thriller?")

You people have a good weekend, please. Keep your noses clean.
